The DVD "North Andover Middle School POETRY" is now available at Stevens Memorial Library to be checked out. It features the January 2009 Program hosted by Gayle C. Heney, Poet Laureate of North Andover, at the North Andover Middle School Library Media Center.  The 7th grade poets bring their enthusiasm, creativity and humor to viewers through poetry they crafted during Ms. Heney's poetry classes at their school, and school assignments. Ms. Heney taught 6 poetry classes in 2009 to approximately150 students.
"The students' ability to write poetry in response to rapid-fire exercises was wonderful. Given the opportunity to express themselves through poetry, they share their concerns, daily experiences and let TV viewers know what's important to them in their lives. Don't miss the DVD."
Ms. Heney would like to thank Library Media Specialist Anne Bate, and NAMS' teachers Bridget Leonardis and Brenda Shanley for helping to make the program possible.
"NAMS Poets" is the companion exhibition to the "North Andover Middle School POETRY". It is on display in the Stevens Memorial Library through June, 2009.
