Chief Paul J Gallagher joined the North Andover Police Department in 1977, he was assigned the Criminal Investigations/School Safety Division Commander since 1988 and in 2011 became Chief of Police. He holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and has attended courses and Drug Commanders School at the F.B.I. and D.E.A. Academy. Lieut. Gallagher is a graduate of Police Executive Research Forum and Senior Institute of Law Enforcement Management. Prior to joining the North Andover Police Department, Lt. Gallagher worked for the Drug Enforcement Administration in New York City and was a detective with the Baltimore MD Police Department. To assist him in his duties as a drug investigations supervisor he is also a sworn Essex County Deputy Sheriff.
