Lt. Carney has been a law enforcement officer since 1977. He has served as a supervisor for over twenty years. Lt Carney was promoted to Sergeant in 1986 and Lieutenant in 1988. Prior to that he served in the Detective Division from 1982-84. He has also served as Special Services Division Commander for 6 years and spent time as the Department prosecutor. He holds a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the Babson College New England Institute of Law Enforcement Management and was a member of the inaugural class of the Massachusetts Police Leadership Institute. He
currently serves as the Operations Division Commander; his responsibilities include oversight and management of the uniformed division of the department.
