Business Certificates
Whenever you are conducting a business under a name other than your own or if incorporated other than a named corporation, you must obtain a “Doing Business As” certificate from the Town Clerk in the Town where the business is located. The D/B/A certificate is maintained as a public file which allows consumers to identify and locate the proprietor.
Zoning Clearance
You must first obtain a zoning clearance from the Building Inspector located at Osgood landing 1600 Osgood Street. Hours for obtaining the certificate are 8:30am – 10:00am and 1:00pm – 2:00pm Monday through Friday. You may call the Building Inspector at (978) 688-9545 with any question.
Once you have obtained your signed zoning clearance form, you come to the Town Clerk's office at 120 Main Street or you may request you Business Certificate by mail. You will need to send:
1. The zoning clearance from the building Inspector
3. A copy of all signers driver’s license.
4. A check or money order for $40.00 payable to the Town of North Andover
5. A self addressed stamped envelope

In North Andover, the filing fee for a D/B/A certificate is $40.00. The certificate must be renewed every four years.
